  • What is cupping?
    Cupping is a therapy in which vacuumed cups are placed onto the body for treatment purposes. The negative pressure inside the cup creates the succion.

    Cupping can cause some discoloration which is normal. The marks left on the skin are due to the suction which draws up the blood vessels on to the surface of the skin as they are expanded. Some marks might be darker than others. The darker marks mean that there is a severe stagnation in the area, so that the area is not working/moving properly. You can gently massage the marks with arnica to accelerate the disappearing of the marks.
  • How long do the marks stay on the skin?
    Depending on the discoloration the marks can last for up to a week. This is different for each individual. The darker marks tend to last longer.
  • What are the contraindications of cupping?
    Cupping is not suitable for patients with very fragile skin. Other contraindications as follows : Geriatric and pediatric patients Pregnancy (to avoid abdominal and lumbar region) Blood disorders Cardiovascular issues: pacemaker, chronic high blood pressure, anticoagulants treatment...
